You’ve spent a lot of time learning English, but do you feel that you’re getting results?
Many students fall into the trap of taking lessons passively. We end up just listening to the lecture and answering the tutor’s questions, without truly absorbing this new knowledge. From now on, let’s change our methods for learning and practicing to more effectively improve English speaking skills.
Cambly’s new curriculum
To support more effective learning, Cambly has a new course curriculum: Topics for conversation and discussion. This is really beneficial for students wanting to know how to improve vocabulary and how to be confident while speaking English.
After logging in to Cambly on your computer, click “Topics” from the yellow menu bar to see a list of options.
The location of the “Topics” section on the home page.
There are “Discussion Topics” and “Conversation Topics”. You can click “Read More” for details.
You can see the details of each lesson by clicking “Read more”.
Conversation topics
Topics for conversation are available to beginner, intermediate and advanced students. Each lesson contains 10 new English words and example sentences, and 10 questions related to one topic. The answer to the question has not been decided. Gather up the English expressions you know and have a discussion with your tutor in English. It’s best to prepare what you want to say in advance, but if you can’t remember the words easily, you can use the translation function in your chat with the tutor !
There is a wide range of conversation topics, and you can have fun conversations on various themes.
Discussion topics
For intermediate and advanced users, we recommend using the discussion topics. These aren’t very different to the conversation topics, but they will challenge you further with questions that prompt discussion and debate, such as “Agree or disagree?” or “Which do you prefer, A or B?”. You can formulate your opinions and practice arguing your case. You can improve your English conversation skills more effectively by using 10 new expressions during your lesson.
Discussion topics allow you to practice asserting opinions and explaining in more detail.

Home screen after registering in the curriculum
You can prepare for each lesson by clicking the round button.
The advantage of this curriculum format is that each lesson is automatically shared with the tutor. You can save the trouble of selecting a topic for each lesson.
A topic link will appear on the left side of the instructor.
At the end of the lesson, you’ll see a review box appear in which you can rate your tutor, connection, and topics. You also have the option to mark the lesson as “complete”. If you select “no”, you can continue the same topic in the next lesson.
This feature is only available in the web version.
We also recommend planning for at least 30 to 60 minutes for a lesson when using the Topics curriculum – 15 minutes is very short to effectively learn English. You will also get more out of your lesson if you prepare in advance, even just briefly, by making notes on your talking points.
So if you want to take conversation lessons with more variation in content, this curriculum will offer a more fulfilling experience that enhances your learning and gets you speaking English with more confidence, ease and flair.
