Some of the features of Cambly Kids that set it apart from other courses are that the lessons can be timed to suit your schedule and that all the tutors are native English speakers. Not to mention, you have control of the lesson plan.
With Cambly Kids, children learn English through the See, Hear, Speak, Connect and Analyze system.
Learning a language through speaking ensures that you will never forget it. Students who learn through diverse interactions store information for longer than students who learn through memorization.
See 👀: New vocabulary is introduced through visual representations, which helps students form connections between the images and concepts, making translation unnecessary in the learning process.
Hear 🎧: Children learn the proper pronunciation of words and correct grammar use by listening to the native English-speaking tutors speak.
Speak 🗣: The tutors encourage the students to use the vocabulary they learned to form their own sentences and give motivating feedback.
Connect 🔗: The students are encouraged to use their vocabulary to talk about themselves through speaking practices and games, which helps them retain what they’ve learned in a more long-lasting way than if they were to memorize.
Analyze 🧐: As the students make progress and become more advanced speakers, they are asked to think critically and express their opinions using new vocabulary. This drives them not to just speak but to think in English, which forms a closer bond between them and the language.

Cambly Kids lessons are scheduled through booking.
Your membership begins on the day you purchase it. All lessons are scheduled by booking time slots with the tutors of your choice. This ensures that your child’s lessons take place at a day and time that works for your family’s schedule. Plus, it gives your tutor time to prepare a well-thought-out lesson.
Here is how our system works:
- The tutors mark the time slots they have available through their booking calendars.
- You can request a lesson by choosing one of the time slots they have available.
- The tutor will then approve your request and your booking will show up on their calendar.
Start by trying out a few different tutors for your child.
Cambly Kids has thousands of very talented and experienced tutors. We are very selective when it comes to the teachers we employ. We recommend that you take your time finding the right tutor that best caters to your child’s needs.
After a couple of lessons, choose two or three tutors your child seems to enjoy learning with. You can let the tutors know that you would like to schedule lessons with them on a regular basis. You can also add them to your list of favorites and access their profiles more easily by clicking on the Favorites section on the Tutors page.
Suggestion: If you need assistance in finding a tutor, you can reach out to our Support Team at any time.
Schedule your lessons ahead of time.
Cambly Kids tutors plan their lesson calendars according to their own schedules. They can choose to make their calendars available for varying spans of time (three weeks or two months, for instance). We recommend that you make a lesson schedule and book at least the next 15 days ahead of time.
Suggestion: If you can’t find an available time slot in your tutor’s calendar, you can send them a message and kindly ask them to create an additional time slot for a lesson with your child. You can also ask them to notify you when they make their booking calendars available so you can book sessions before the time slots are taken up.
You might want to consider the following to communicate efficiently with your tutor:
Create a dialogue with your child’s tutor.
You can contact your tutor about anything regarding the lessons and can even take some time to talk to them while the lessons are in session. Don’t hesitate to let them know what your expectations are and what you’d like them to focus on during the sessions. You could ask them to assist your child in improving their vocabulary or to help your child learn grammar step by step, for instance. Details like these will make it easier for your tutor to cater to your child’s needs.
Suggestion: You don’t need to know English to communicate with tutors. Our messaging platform has a translation feature. Even if you write to them in your own language, it will be translated into English so they can read and understand your message. Similarly, you can also view what they wrote in English in your own language.
Make sure to attend the lessons on time.
When it’s time for the lesson to start, you will need to initiate the online session. It’s important that you call your tutor when it’s time for the lesson to begin. If you call early or late, your tutor might not see your call. If you’re late by 10 minutes or more, your lesson might get canceled.
Suggestion: If you’re running late for your scheduled lesson, you can message the tutor to let them know. That way, you can reschedule the lesson for another time instead of starting late. Remember! Your tutor is only obliged to give the lesson during the time slot you booked. If you start the lesson late and your tutor has another session after yours, you might need to end the lesson before your 30 minutes is up.
Ask your tutor for feedback on your child’s progress.
You can ask tutors to give you feedback on your child’s English competency and motivation level in class. This way, you can keep up with your child’s progress and understand what they need support with.
Suggestion: You can change the level of difficulty of the lessons’ curriculum in accordance with the feedback you receive from tutors.
Make sure your child wants to take lessons and comes prepared.
Over time you might notice that your child’s motivation level varies or that they seem distracted during the online sessions. This is perfectly normal for their age group. It might help for you to include your child in the process of choosing tutors or creating a lesson plan. We recommend that you talk to your child prior to and after sessions, and that you choose a quiet and comfortable place for your child to attend the lessons.
Suggestion: You can ask your tutor to plan the lessons in accordance with your child’s feedback about the sessions. For instance, you could ask them to sing songs more often or to work on assignments that help improve your child’s English writing skills.
Watch recordings of your lessons after the sessions.
Unless you request otherwise, your child’s lessons will be recorded. This way, you and your child can watch the recordings of previous lessons whenever you like to refresh your memories. We’re sure that they will enjoy watching themselves speak English.
Don’t forget that you can pause your membership.
It’s very important for your child to regularly practice speaking English so that they learn the language quickly. That’s why we don’t recommend that you disrupt the lesson schedule you planned unless it’s necessary. But if your child should need a break from classes, you have the option of pausing your Cambly Kids membership for either 7 or 14 days. For detailed information: Can I pause my child’s learning plan?
